David Shannon (1959~)
어렸을 때부터 그림 그리기를 무척 좋아한 데이비드는 일러스트레이터가 되기로 마음 먹고 캘리포니아 주 패서디나에 있는 디자인 아트센터 칼리지에서 미술을 전공했다.
공부를 마친 후에는 잡지에 그림을 기고하거나 책 표지를 그렸다. 그러던 중, 직접 글을 써 보라는 권유를 받고 평소 좋아하던 야구 이야기를 담은 < How 
한편 <안돼, 데이빗!: No David!>으로는 칼데콧 명예상을 수상한 바 있으며, 어른과 아이가 모두 재미있게 읽을 수 있는 이야기를 쓰려고 노력하고 있다.
현재 로스엔젤레스에서 아내 하이디와 딸 엠마 그리고 강아지 퍼거스와 함께 살고 있다.
